Stand up to cancer

Their motto is “this is where the end of cancer begins.” This fantastic web site Stand up for Cancer is a fundraising site for cancer research.

On September 5, 2008  the biggest fundraising event will take place. Stars from film, television, sports, journalism and music will come together on prime time television to help raise funds for cancer research.

The group leading this fund raising effort includes Katie Couric, Sherry Lansing, Laura Ziskin, Ellen Ziffren, a group from Entertainment Industry Foundation along with a group from Noreen Fraser Foundation and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).

This site also helps you to start your own fundraising team. You can also contribute to “Launch A Star” by simply donating $1 or more to launch a personalized star in honor of someone you know who has been diagnosed with cancer.
